Eira saw the motion and laughed slightly. "Oh you don't have to worry, it's not contagious. It's just my little burden to bear due to my powers. I have a weak constitution, that's all." Now she really wished her friend hadn't been working today, he always knew what to say in these situations.

Kailee breathed a small sigh of relief when she heard the sickness couldn't be caught. That would save a lot of effort on her end. "Oh...so what exactly do you do, then?" she asked as she sat on her bed, crossing her legs and sitting up straight with her cat ears perked up in curiosity.

Eira sat down across from her, a bit nervous. The last time she had told someone about her power, they had freaked. But that was a one time incident, right? As long as she said nothing about her friend, nothing bad would happen. "I'm a witch, a puppet master to be exact."

"No way! That's so cool!" she stared at her in awe as she leaned forward excitedly. "I had always wondered what some of the other students here would be capable of. I've never been around people like me before!"

"Really? I'm from a little town that's just full of other species." Eira smiled, remembering her home town. "Though I have to say, I've never met a cat girl before."

"Oh really?" Kailee grinned as she jokingly flicked her cat ears. "Well I'm honored to be the first! And yeah, I've just never gotten out much before now. I actually thought for the longest time that I was the only one who was special. My parents...er, I mean my foster parents, are completely human. And so were our staff."

"Wow, that's really cool. Most of the humans I know, the normal ones at least, don't even know we exist. You'd be surprised how oblivious they are."

There was a quiet knock on the door frame, interrupting the discussion. Sverrir waited silently and patiently for the two girls to notice him.

Kailee opened her mouth to respond, but was cut off by a subtle knock at the entrance to their room. Her ear closest to the door twitched in response and she turned her head to see a guy standing there. "Hello, can we help you?" she asked with slight confusion. Not only was she having to share a room, but did boys live here too? Wow...this wasn't what she was used to at all.

"I beg your pardon, Miss, but have you seen a black violin? It seems to have vanished," Sverrir explained politely, bowing slightly in greeting. "I left my room for a few moments and it was gone when I got back."

Eira looked up at the sound of a familiar voice. "Sverrir? Is that you? Don't tell me you go here too."

Sverrir smiled, genuinely pleased. "Miss Eira! It has been a while. Yes, Headmaster Cato extended an invitation to me recently. Did you see where my violin went?"

"Can't say I have. Kailee, this is Sverrir, a Fossegrimen." She smiled. "Sverrir, this is Kailee."

The lake-spirit bowed, low and formal. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Kailee."

"Oh...hello!" Kailee replied with a shy wave after observing their conversation. "So...does everybody here already know each other?"
